Isaiah 40:31 “…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;…”
Issue No.  31                                                        May 2, 2024

May 2nd!!    Roughly a month to go. Mid-quarter ends tomorrow, with just under five weeks left thereafter. My final communication home will be my Messenger message on June 6th, which is the day of Graduation. While I will still be tidying up loose ends until the end of June, all communication from the Principal after June 6th will come from incoming Principal Michael Stone.

May brings with it lots of activity at FLCS: Education Fair on May 10th;  the church/school Spring Festival on the 11th; Memorial Day  (no school) on the 27th; and Field Day on the 31st. Graduation is Thursday night, June 6th, and the last (half) day of school is Friday, June 7th. A busy time of year, indeed.

Wearing shorts for school is now allowed. PLEASE make sure that they are dress shorts and not cutoffs or gym shorts. Jean shorts may be worn on Fridays only.

There will be just two more bottle/can drop offs: Friday, May 9th, and Friday, May 23rd. Thank you for participating.

May His blessings keep coming as we enter our last month of the school year!

Plant Lovers Unite!

We are in need of plants for our Spring Festival on May 11th.  All plant donations are greatly appreciated.  House plants, outdoor/landscaping plants, vegetable and herb plants, and flowering plants are all acceptable. Set your seeds please, root some cuttings, separate your overgrown and abundant plants and bring them to the church and school the week of May 6th.

We also need volunteers to man our sale.  All proceeds will benefit our church and school. Please let Randee Glucksman know if you are able to help, if even for an hour.  Randee can be reached during Morning Care hours or @ 533-1873. Please let her know how you can help, or what hours you are available.

Plant donations should include plant name, growing/lighting conditions, etc.

Thank you very much!

Thank you to those who have returned their enrollment packets already!  We have begun accepting new enrollments for the 2024-2025 school year.  If you are planning to return to FLS, please get your enrollment packets in asap!

Attention all bakers!

The Ladies Guild is once again asking for your help.  We will be participating in the Spring Festival.

The money we raise is used to make repairs and improvements to the church and school.

Anything you can do to help us will be greatly appreciated!

Please do not bring anything with cream frosting – if it’s a warm day, the frosting will melt.

You can put your baked goods in the Fellowship Hall the day before the festival, Friday, May 10th – or bring them to the church the day of.

Thank you for your support!

The 2023-2024 Yearbooks have arrived!  Order forms are attached to this Messenger!

There will also be some available at the Education Fair on May 10th

The students really look forward to this special day! We would love to be able to provide a fun day on Friday, May 31st! Field Day takes MANY parent volunteers to make this happen!

Field day will be for PreK-6th grade.  The 7th & 8th grade classes will be going to Look Park instead – more information to follow.

If you are willing to volunteer for this event, please let Mrs. Engle, or the office know, asap.  Volunteer forms are attached to the Messenger & also available in the office.  Please return the forms no later than May 17th so we can begin the planning.  Thank you!

Education Fair – May 10th @ 6:30 p.m.

The Education Fair is an hour of viewing all the classrooms and each classroom’s special projects! The doors will open at 6:15 p.m., and you can walk the hallways & Fellowship Hall.  Classroom doors will open at 6:30 P.M. and continue until 7:30 P.M.  The teachers and students work hard to make this a very special night.  The tradition continues in that the fifth graders are focusing on Presidents and First Ladies!  They dress in costumes befitting their choice and prepare their information about their choice.  Their display is in the Fellowship Hall, so there’s enough room for all that they have prepared.

VBS plans are underway! We will be transforming fellowship hall into an under water experience, to do so we need your help. Below is a list of items that we need to make coral reefs, jellyfish, lobsters, and much more.

-plastic bottle caps (water, soda, juice)

-plastic tablecloths (blue, green, white)

-curling ribbon (all colors)

-party streamers (blue, green, white)

-cardboard egg cartons

-googly eyes (all sizes)

-cardboard

-cardboard boxes (all sizes)

-glue sticks for hot glue guns

-spray paint (all colors)

-pool noodles (all colors)

-plain bed sheets (blue, white, tan)

-acrylic paint (all colors)

-colorful tissue

-pipe cleaners (all colors)

-cash donations to purchase vbs materials

We would also like to borrow a hot knife to cut foam if anyone has one. There will be a collection box in the hallway or you can leave larger items on the stage in fellowship hall. Any way you can help would be really appreciated. I will be letting everyone know when the work times are scheduled. Any questions ask Bonnie Bessette or email bonnieb561@aol.com.

Shorts are able to be worn through the rest of the school year. Please remember to follow the school dress cod.

Also…..for the child’s safety – shoes must have closed toes and heels –
